How do I submit a manuscript?

By submitting a manuscript to JON, the authors attest that the manuscript has not been submitted elsewhere and (if accepted) will not be published in whole or in part elsewhere without consent of the JON Editorial Board. They also attest that all work contained is original.

Research results submitted for publication should be reproducible. It is expected that critical experiments have been repeated in time or space and statistically validated, as appropriate.

Routine surveys, for example of nematode distribution or of germplasm collections for susceptibility to parasitic nematodes, are not acceptable unless they explicitly test or generate hypotheses.

Manuscripts must be submitted to the Editor-in-Chief (EiC)(Kris Lambert). Authors are encouraged to submit manuscripts electronically as email attachments to: knlamber@illinois.edu. Manuscripts must be Word (.doc), Rich Text Format (.rtf) or ASCII text files (.txt). Do not embed figures in the body of the manuscript text. All figures (line art, photos, and micrographs) must be submitted as separate files (identified by first author's name and figure number). For review purposes, any common file type (e.g. Power Point, Word, PDF) is acceptible. However, versions for the printer must be in TIFF (.tif), JPEG (.jpg) or Encapsulated Postscript (.eps) format.

If submitted as a printed copy, send original and three high-quality copies of figures to the EiC at:

Manuscripts that do not follow JON style and format procedures, and thus require extensive changes, will be returned to the author(s) without further review. It requires less time to compose a manuscript properly in the first place than to have editors insert numerous corrections throughout the manuscript.
